Our Story

The story behind the name

The name has a simple origin. Growing up in Minnesota, Michael's mother kept a tradition of pressing old blue bottles into the garden soil for good luck. That color, the deep clear blue of a Minnesota lake in summer, stayed with him. Bottle Blue is named for it.

Bottle Blue LLC is an independent innovation studio founded by Michael Coughlin. The mission is straightforward: build honest, well-crafted software that helps people engage with what matters. Nature, data, community, and each other.

The best technology doesn't demand your attention. It earns it, then gets out of the way.

Our Development Roadmap

From concept to deployment, Bottle Blue LLC is committed to delivering impactful, sustainable solutions at every stage. Our roadmap prioritizes innovation, efficiency, and user experience, ensuring that each product meets your unique needs and supports a greener future.

  1. Company Established 2020

    Bottle Blue LLC was founded with a mission to integrate sustainability into the tech landscape. Since our inception, we’ve focused on creating impactful, eco-friendly solutions for a greener future.

  2. The Self-Funded Years

    For its first four years Bottle Blue LLC built entirely on its own money. That constraint shaped the work: a shared platform rather than five separate stacks, and products that had to earn their keep before anything else got built.

  3. PocketQuant.io Launched

    In recent months, we launched PocketQuant.io, a platform dedicated to empowering users with accessible financial insights. This marks a significant milestone in our journey towards creating transformative tech products.

  4. Funded, and Building

    Securing investment at the end of 2024 closed the self-funded chapter and opened this one. Five core products now share one platform, one design language and one account, and the work today is shipping them rather than preparing to.
